Guild Wars - Chapter 1337: Love Or Obligation? 5
Chapter 1337: Love Or Obligation? 5
When the dust cleared, one could only see Shuangtian standing there with her arms folded, a slight smile on her face while Riveting Night was positioned in a striking manner, her palm chopping at Shuangtian’s neck.
Despite the thunderous hit, Shuangtian showed no obvious changes, simply shaking her head. “All that tough talk, and this is it? Might as well have kept Amaterasu then, because at least she knew how to throw a worthwhile punch.”
Riveting Night’s expression did not change greatly, but the coldness in her eyes magnified. She had only been able to come to the fore now, so even though she had the memories and experiences of Evaterasu all this time, she still needed to ratify it to herself.
Draco by the side shook his head. Even he had struggled to do any significant damage to Shuangtian, everything either being blocked by her defenses or regenerated by her tyrannical body. Even her soul was out of bounds as she possessed an entire branch for soul abilities, meaning that one could not overpower her that way.
The only way was to attempt infiltration through psychic abilities or to limit her already weak sensory abilities to fight, but to what end? Her defense was still there and Draco had personally experienced this.
Even Mind Force was mostly useless at its current level, forcing him to use his sealing ability to simply perform a tug of war. Unless Riveting Night could unlock a new branch of her bloodline under pressure, this ‘lesson’ would likely be taught to the teacher, not the student…
But that was just as well.
In as much as he favored Riveting Night, she had to fix her mentality towards Shuangtian before it was too late, otherwise this conflict would erupt at a later date when they were far more powerful, leading to far worse consequences.
Shuangtian stretched out a hand to grab Riveting Night’s outstretched wrist, but the celestial beauty retracted it like lightning and repositioned herself. She quietly stared at Shuangtian intensely, seemingly forming a battle plan and calculating her chances of success.
Shuangtian used this time to rub her chin in a sleazy manner. “Stop staring, you’re making me blush~”
Riveting Night took that as a signal and pointed a finger forward. She activated her bloodline ability and stopped time, causing the world around them to freeze like someone had pressed the pause button, but even so, Shuangtian and Draco still maintained their awareness even though they couldn’t move their bodies.
Draco immediately peeled himself off into a separate layer of space with normal time, allowing him to ‘move’ again, though it was technical. Shuangtian also activated her Law branch and utilized the Time law sub-segment to resist Eva’s abilities, granting her a bit of respite.
It was also through this that she was able to resist Krios’ stopped time earlier and muster defenses against Eva who could move freely when they were still playing about.
However, just like back then, Shuangtian could only set up defenses for herself against any ploy that Riveting Night had in mind. This was due to a few reasons, one of them being the fact that she had lower Eternal Control and energy efficiency over her Law branch compared to Eva’s Time Branch.
It was also the fact that Eva’s Time Branch had a strong control of time as a whole, while Shuangtian’s Law branch was more of a general, all-rounder branch.
This put Shuangtian in a situation similar to Jotaro during the early parts of his fight against Dio. Not exactly as helpless as the common man, but only able to steal a few seconds of time within time stop to defend himself.
But unlike Dio, Riveting Night had no limitations on her time stop!
She darted forward with her body leaning forward, both arms coated in the terrifying abyssal energy that could corrupt all things, be they flesh, metal, or even ethereal. Once touched, one would cease to be a being of order and would descend into a creature worse than an eldritch horror.
Riveting Night did not care about consequences and smashed her palm on Shuangtian, who had encased herself in layers of morphed flesh from her Mass Branch, looking quite terrifying like this.
Riveting Night touched various parts of the sky shell of hardened flesh that covered Shuangtian in all directions, then stepped back. She knew she did not have the raw power to break Shuangtian’s fleshy defenses, even if she shot a million light beams at full power.
However, if Shuangtian thought she was invincible because of this, then she, Riveting Night, would show her the foolishness of such an assumption!
With that in mind, Riveting Night raised a finger and resumed time.
Shuangtian, who had been aware of everything already but couldn’t move outside of that one instant, quickly shed away all of the corrupted skin and tossed it aside, reverting back into her beautiful and sexy self as if nothing happened.
“Thanks for the haircut sis, I really needed it~” Shuangtian mocked openly, a smirk on her face as she folded her arms.
Riveting Night had a look of disgust on her face. “How do you not end your own life after using such a nasty power? Disgraceful!”
Shuangtian seemed unbothered. “Why am I not bothered… isn’t it because he likes it?”
She buttressed her point by gesturing at the spectating Draco, whose intrigued expression and tent in his pants were suddenly outed for the world to see.
Edgelord Draco was stunned to have been caught and blushed while coughing into his fist, looking away and adjusting his pants. Meanwhile, Riveting Night was speechless, realizing that no matter the mentality, the basic settings of Draco would remain the same.
“Hmph, that doesn’t change anything. You are a side bitch he picked up as an afterthought, now thinking that you are my equal just because of your power.” Riveting Night sneered.
“At one point in time, even Hikari was stronger than I was. Yet, she knew her place and always deferred to me. You will soon learn to do the same.” Riveting Night added as abyssal aura emerged on her fingers again.
For the first time since Riveting Night began her tirade, Shuangtian frowned visibly. “You are really in need of a beating. To think that even you would refer to Hikari in such a manner… it would break her heart.”
Draco frowned as well, feeling that things were not as sweet as he imagined. While he disliked Evaterasu for her fearful nature towards the current him as well as Amaterasu’s deep and lingering influence, she was still mostly perfect otherwise.
Riveting Night in the past was a bit cold, but was still sociable to those she cared about, especially Roma, Hikari and Zaine who all deferred to her but still felt strong affection. She would never have referred to them in such a manner, making Draco wonder if there was foul play at work.
Riveting Night did not respond, opting to use the same combo of timestop plus attacking Shuangtian in all directions to inflict her visible flesh with abyssal aura. Likewise, Shuangtian responded the same way, buying herself a split second to cloak herself in walls of generated flesh that possessed all her innate attributes.
However, this time, Riveting Night had a little trick to play. When she resumed time, just as Shuangtian was about to cast away the polluted flesh, she immediately pointed her fingers and manipulated the power of time around Shuangtian.
Time Acceleration!
Shuangtian’s face changed as time accelerated rapidly around her, causing the abyssal pollution to spread at the speed of fire through dry grass, reaching her core within a single second.
Ambush!
This was a carefully planned trap by Riveting Night!
Shuangtian’s face darkened greatly while Draco raised an eyebrow. Despite his current misgivings and dissatisfactions, there was one thing that was true, and it was the fact that Riveting Night was a battle genius akin to himself.
She was able to analyze Shuangtian’s mindset and powers then gauge them against her own, finding a suitable breakthrough point all in the span of a few minutes since the battle started. Even he had fought Shuangtian for more than a few rounds before taking the easy way out and sealing her.
But still, there was a reason he had to take the easy way out and seal her as Shuangtian’s body, now covered with horrifying abyssal pollution that prevented one from seeing her physical state, suddenly erupted with explosive power, causing the sky above to darken as if someone had summoned Shenron.
The abyssal aura that covered Shuangtian struggled for a bit before being blown into ashes in the air, revealing Shuangtian’s pristine body that was now releasing a brownish-red spiky aura that was not entirely unlike what one would see in an anime.
Looking at her, Draco identified that this was likely her hardly used Aura branch, and he did not know much about it since none ever pushed Shuangtian far enough to use it. However, from what he was sensing now, the power fluctuations she was releasing were definitely enough to beat a few Primordials to death with her bare hands.
Riveting Night also sensed this and frowned, contemplating her next actions as she drew up a battle plan. However, before she could do so, Shuangtian disappeared from her spot and appeared before Riveting Night, causing the latter to show an expression of surprise at the sheer speed.
Shuangtian grabbed Riveting Night’s hand with a cold look, her aura flaring as her eyes became filled with coldness. “Now, it’s my turn.”
Riveting Night huffed coldly and reacted, exploding her arm into bloodmist to escape Shuangtian’s titanic grip and releasing a huge wave of gamma light power, aiming to corrode Shuangtian and deter her.
However, the gamma light was not even able to break through Shuangtian’s aura and touch her, ending with the voluptuous empress stepping forward and unleashing a blow in the air.
The air in front of her caved in and reformed concentric pressure that came as a spiraling cannon of force, striking Riveting Night in the gut and causing her face to contort as she was sent flying like a comet, striking through hundreds of buildings.
Shuangtian still maintained her punching posture, not glancing at the place where Riveting Night was sent flying, but at a place randomly to her northwest, in which she smirked at.
“You can trick my mind, but you cannot hide your soul. Come out!” Shuangtian demanded to that empty space.
From within, Riveting Night walked out, unscathed and unharmed as she folded her arms casually. “Not bad, you were able to knock away my basic clone and detect my presence. You now have the qualifications to speak to me as an equal.”
Shuangtian snorted. “I don’t need your damn qualifications or recognition, they are worth less than a dog’s fart. All I am here to do is teach you a lesson that just because you have some history with a person, that doesn’t mean you own them!”
She did not wait for Riveting Night to retort, unleashing a blow of power that caused another segment of the Purgatory Group to explode, which Draco propped up at the last moment to prevent widespread deaths.
Using his minor creation ability from Nuwa, he repaired the building and hid it in a separate space once more to prevent any accidents from happening. When he was done, he had time to witness the battle in the sky between Shuangtian and Riveting Night which had grown more hectic.
Draco folded his arms and witnessed countless people being displaced and incinerated by the beams of light Riveting Night fired which were deflected by Shuangtian, or being crushed into pulp by the blows of Shuangtian that were avoided by Riveting Night, striking the nearby buildings or ground and causing countless cracks to appear.
Seeing this, Lucifer would have not cared in the least because he did not care about sub-humans, but the current Draco was different. He sighed and placed the entire city into a separate space to protect the civilians, but did not stop the fight between his wives.
Not only was it necessary to fix any future issues once and for all, so that they could be in perfect sync, but this would also serve to remind the sub-humans as to who their master truly was. Even though Lucifer had explained the truth of the world on live television, they still did not have a full grasp of what it meant
