Springtime Farming: A Happy Wife At Home - Chapter 2036: Anan Fell
Chapter 2036: Anan Fell
Qiao Xuan planted a kiss on her son’s cheek, her smile warm and reassuring. “Alright, my dear, we’ll go get some right away.”
She knew that failing to fulfill her promise would only leave Anan crestfallen and in tears.
With that, Shao Yunduan alighted from the wagon and arranged for another to take his place, while Qiao Xuan led Anan to the bustling dessert shop.
Aware of the impending workload awaiting him at the office after being away for several days, Shao Yunduan opted to return ahead of them, accompanied by six guards for added security. Despite Anze City’s reputation for safety, Shao Yunduan refused to take any chances when it came to the well-being of his family.
Meanwhile, Qiao Xuan, accompanied by her son, nanny, Liqiu, Caiyun, and other familiar faces, made their way to Yue’s dessert shop on the bustling street.
Frequented by Anan for its delectable offerings, Qiao Xuan herself enjoyed the treats but preferred not to make them at home, making visits here a regular occurrence. The female manager and waitstaff recognized them, offering warm greetings upon their arrival.
As always, Anan’s order remained consistent—Sweet Dew and Milk Pudding. Qiao Xuan added a few more dishes to their order and encouraged Nanny, Liqiu, and the others to choose whatever they pleased. With Anan settled comfortably in a booth, Qiao Xuan attended to his needs with tender care.
Nanny and the others, accustomed to Madam’s casual demeanor, reciprocated her kindness with grateful smiles before dispersing to find their own seats.
The dessert shop boasted two floors, with the second floor featuring seven or eight booths of varying sizes, tailored for the comfort of female patrons.
One such booth, elegantly adorned and subtly partitioned, provided a spacious and inviting ambiance, its décor regularly refreshed with changing floral arrangements. Qiao Xuan, well-acquainted with the staff, engaged in conversation as she savored the tranquil atmosphere.
However, her attention was abruptly diverted when she noticed Anan darting away.
The shop was relatively empty, save for Qiao Xuan’s group and two other tables. While she knew Anan to be mischievous, she trusted the child to behave responsibly. Yet, as Anan dashed past the two servants, one of them extended her leg, causing Qiao Xuan’s eyes to widen in alarm.
“Anan!” she exclaimed, her voice ringing out across the shop.
Almost simultaneously, Anan stumbled over the maid’s outstretched leg and tumbled forward, emitting a loud wail as he fell.
Qiao Xuan’s cry of alarm drew the attention of Zixian, who had been engaged in conversation with her. Following Qiao Xuan’s gaze, Zixian witnessed the unfolding scene.
Meanwhile, the other maid, engaged in quiet conversation with her mistress, lifted her head in surprise as Anan’s cries disrupted the tranquility. Observing the unfortunate spectacle, the mistress couldn’t suppress a giggle, finding amusement in Anan’s misfortune.
The maid, relieved to see her mistress’s mood lightening after days of melancholy, couldn’t resist a disparaging remark directed at Anan. “I wonder which nobleman is so negligent that he can’t even tend to his own child!” she quipped, eliciting a chuckle from the maid who had inadvertently caused Anan’s fall.
Qiao Xuan felt a surge of frustration and anger. Rushing to Anan’s side, she scooped up the distraught child into her arms, offering him the comfort and solace he sought amidst his tears.
